Walter Wayne Keeton

Mr. Walter Wayne Keeton, 75, passed from this life on Sunday December 31, 2023 at his residence in Corinth, MS. Memorial Services are planned for Saturday February 24, 2024, 12:00pm at the Corinthian Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00am until Service time at the Chapel.

Mr. Keeton was born February 20, 1947 to James and Cora Burcham Keeton in Corinth, MS. Grandparents: Oscar and Mildred Greenhaw Keeton, and Andrew and Calli Evetts Burcham.  

Mr. Keeton graduated from West Point High School, attended Northeast Ms Junior College, Mississippi State University and University of Southern MS. He had a Masters Degree in Education.  Mr. Keeton spent 48 years teaching High School in Mississippi and retired in 2018. He was an avid reader and historian. He was especially knowledgeable of the Civil War Battles of Corinth and Shiloh. He also served as his family’s historian.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Grandparents,  Brother: Danny Keeton, Niece: Dana Albert.

His memory will be carried on by his, Sisters:  Linda Osburn of Cedar Bluff, MS, Kay Keeton of Corinth, MS, Marsha Barnes of Iuka, MS, Nephews: Jason Osburn, Randy Barnes, Wyatt Wallace, Hugh Keeton, Nieces: Kim Pittman, Ellen Wealtherford, Mary Grooms, Carrie Stephens.

Burial will be in Jerusalem  Community Cemetery in Corinth, MS

    Such a nice person. Haven’t seen him since I was a teenager. His sister Marsha & I were good friends. Time goes by so fast. I’m so sorry for the Keeton family always in my thoughts.
