Theo Edith Weaver, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18th in the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on October 9, 1931, in McNairy County, Tennessee, to Arrie and Lillie Mae Kirk.
Theo spent most of her life in New Site, Mississippi, where she shared 48 years of marriage with her husband, James Quentin Weaver, until his passing in February of 2000. In her later years, she resided with her son and daughter-in-law, who lovingly cared for her.
Theo is survived by her son, Shawn Weaver and wife Michelle; her granddaughter, Emily Gardner (Coleman); her grandson, Michael Weaver (Kylie); her niece, Stormy Shirley (Will); her brother, Bluford (Jean); her sisters, Virginia, Geneva, Margie (Wayne), and Bonnie; her sister-in-law, Joy (Dean); along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Quentin “J.Q.” Weaver; two infant children; her parents, Arrie and Lillie Kirk; her brother, Arvie; her mother- and father-in-law, Elmila and O.C. Crabb; her brothers-in-law, Lavon and Jim, and her sisters-in-law, Mary Von and Betty.
Theo was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her family and faith. She worked very hard throughout her life and was the biblical archetype of a noble, capable, and industrious woman of Proverbs 31. An avid gardener, a wonderful cook, a fantastic seamstress, industrious and in various secular roles, including Bluebell in Belmont and later at SDI in Baldwyn MS. She was a faithful, lifelong member of New Bethel Church of Christ, where she served the Lord and her church family with devotion.
In her later years, Theo faced dementia and declining health with faith, strength and resilience. Despite these challenges, she maintained her sense of humor, a strong will, and continued to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, especially a good meal (including desserts of course), maybe a little bit of occasional gossip, and time with family.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 20th, 2026, at 2PM at New Bethel church of Christ, followed by a funeral service at 4PM with Ricky Griffin and Ronnie Livingston officiating. Interment will be at Little Brown Cemetery in New Site, Mississippi, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. There will be no graveside services.
We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from our family and friends during this difficult time. A special thank you also to the wonderful staff at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and North MS Medical Center for the care, compassion, and dignity you have shown her. Your kindness carried us when we needed it most, and we will never forget it.
